What is Blue Chip Flag – Santa Barbara, CA?
Blue Chip Flag – Santa Barbara is the premier youth football league for boys and girls ages 4-17 in the Santa Barbara area brought to you by Blue Chip Youth Sports. The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork.
What comes with registration?
A reversible team identified jersey and Flag belt. Participants get to keep their jersey at the end of the season.
6 regular season games, 1-3 playoff games. 7-9 games total.
Season Champions will be invited to play in the Tournament of Champions at Pasadena High School in Pasadena, CA in between seasons. All travel and lodging will be the parent/guardian’s responsibility.
Opportunity for players to stay active and develop passing, receiving, evading and coverage skills with instructions from their head coach.
Certificate of Excellence will be awarded weekly to offensive and defensive top performers of each game.
Insurance policy that consists of a $4,000,000 liability policy.
Age Groups
To keep the divisions as competitively equal as possible, starting in the Winter 2021 Season, the age groups and divisions will be as follows:

Pee-Wee (4-6 years old)
Junior (7-8 years old)
Major (9-10 years old)
Semi Pro (11-12 years old)
Pro (13-15 years old)
GEMS ALL-GIRL DIVISIONS
Junior (6-8 years old)
Major (9-11 years old)
Semi Pro (12-14 years old)
Pro (15-17 years old)
*The organization reserves the right to adjust the divisions as needed to fill out rosters for any given season.
League Schedule and Practice
Winter 2026 Season games will take place on SUNDAYS from January 25th – March 8th, 2026.
Coaches conduct their own practices but we encourage no more than once a week. Each game takes an hour. All games are played at Santa Barbara Junior High School – Practice Field, in Santa Barbara, CA.
WINTER 2026 SEASON WILL RUN FROM JANUARY 25TH – MARCH 8TH, 2026
WINTER 2026 REGISTRATION – Before 1/1/2026 ($180)
Payment plans are available at checkout.
**Refunds: You may request a refund up to 7 days after your registration date. No refunds will be given after the 7-day grace period OR within 14 days of the season starting (no exceptions). You have the option to purchase a third party refund protection policy during checkout.
Our age cut-off for the Winter 2026 season is January 1st, 2026. This means the player’s age on January 1st, 2026, determines their age division. For example, a child born on January 1st, 2020 has a league age of 5, while a child born on December 31st, 2019 has a league age of 6.
Birth certificates are required and must be uploaded to your account when registering.
Coach background checks are required for all new head coaches.
Game Day Attire
Please make sure your child wears shorts/pants with NO pockets. Cleats are okay, but metal spikes are not allowed. Mouth piece is required. All participants are required to order and wear a GameBreaker Soft Shell Helmet starting in the Spring 2021 Season. The helmets will be MANDATORY.
